I am an intuitive, experimental artist inspired by nature and its expression on the landscape through the play of light and the cyclical rhythm of the seasons.
I live and work from my studio in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the Chilterns in Oxfordshire, England and get most of my inspiration from the surrounding countryside.
I am well known for my atmospheric acrylics on canvas and luminous watercolour paintings using many experimental techniques.
Currently I am working on a series of contemporary paintings of trees in acrylic on large canvases capturing their personalities and qualities through the seasons. Many of the paintings have the moon or sun as part of the composition thus showing the drama of light on the landscape and encompassing the bigger picture of the universality of nature.
I also paint smaller expressive watercolour landscapes based on a passage of light which runs through the picture and pulls together the focal elements creating an ethereal style of painting full of atmosphere which ignites the imagination.
I have worked on a number of commissions during my career and produced 35 paintings depicting the harmony between industry and nature for a Yorkshire pharmaceutical regulatory organisation.
I have exhibited in numerous locations in the USA and the UK including Cork Street, London and have paintings in private collections in the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa, and I’m a member of the prestigious Oxford Art Society.
