Yvonne Maximchuk

My contemporary fine art paintings are of the seascapes and landscapes of coastal British Columbia. I work in Acrylic on canvas, Watercolour on rag paper or mixed media with torn art papers. Wildlife such as whales, bears, birds and fish in their natural habitat are often featured in the paintings. Sometimes the human figure shows up in the scene. My style ranges from impressionism to painterly realism with rich blue, green, warm sienna and violet complemented by pure rose, pinks and oranges. Vibrant colour and rich texture keep the canvas surface vital and interesting in a contemporary style, yet touched by the joyous brushwork of the Impressionist masters.

Many people think Canada is Nirvana and they are right, I love to paint my island home, yet islands everywhere speak to me and scenes from my trips to France, England and other countries in Europe. I am happy to work to commission, and willing to discuss your ideas and find the best way to make your vision appear. Prices are affordable and range from very small watercolor pieces that go for $100.00 Can. on up to large acrylic canvases that are $3000.00 to $6000.00 Can. I am a ceramist and art instructor as well as a painter.
