Living in Hawaii inspires Wendy Roberts to paint landscapes of lush greenery, botanicals, florals, and wildlife (often birds). She is also comfortable painting portraits and figures, as you will see in some of her work on her website. Paintings of our beautiful, fragile world, especially the tropical paradise of the Hawaiian Islands are relaxing pieces that are a wonderful focal point of a room. Her paintings to feel like a window to a perfect place and time, helping create a soothing, inspiring space in which to live or work. Natural subjects comprise the majority of Wendy's work which may include metal leaf (using gold, silver, copper, and occasionally copper/zinc, or aluminum metal leaf to enhance the interesting reflective qualities of certain pieces. Years of training, including a B.A. in Fine Art, allow Wendy to create archival quality pieces with high quality materials. Her technique allows the strokes of paint to describe the image in a realistic yet expressive style. The textural quality of paint strokes is very important to Wendy, so that when viewed from a distance, the painting looks very realistic, but up close her strokes are painterly with rhythm and texture fitting the subject. Wendy's work has been well received in the art community, winning awards in many juried shows, and purchased for private collections and businesses internationally.
