I am a painter inspired exclusively by the animal kingdom, both domestic pets and wildlife. I paint in a realistic style, always enjoying depicting beautiful eyes and the texture of fur, whether of a beloved pet or magnificent wildlife. Capturing the expression of an individual animal is truly compelling, and as I paint, I find I am already being inspired for the next piece.
Originally from Cheltenham, Gloucestershire in the UK, I now live in Helsinki, Finland with my Finnish husband. We live surrounded by nature, and this is where my inspiration comes from. I spend a lot of time outside sketching and, with my camera taking reference photographs. My gallery includes original paintings of a tiger, fox, horse and zebra. I usually use pastel for my paintings as I enjoy the spontaneity of the medium, being able to lay down and mix colour directly on the support, and find it is perfect for depicting realistic fur texture. I also use graphite pencil, oil and acrylic, depending on the subject.
I undertake commissions for pet and horse portraits, and also accept requests for a favourite farmyard animal or to capture the wild spirit of an African safari. I usually work from several photographs to capture a true likeness of the subject. Please browse my website for more information, and if you have any questions please contact me.
