Graham Austin OAM
Fine art painter in acrylics, oils and watercolour: Outback to coast contemporary Australian, aerial view landscape paintings, portraits and reef paintings.
My work is generally a pointilliste style which was ultimately developed from indelible memories as a seven year old. We were camping on the south coast of NSW when I was rewarded with an exciting seaplane joy flight by my father [an aircraft engineer and enthusiast].
From the air, trees, rocks and people looked like spots. Waves breaking on the beach looked like rolled out, stringy cotton wool. Landscape Images simplified in a seven year old brain. Years later these memorable images emerged from the subconscious whilst looking into deep valleys from high vantage points around Oberon, NSW, during painting excursions. Images further reinforced by more flights, aerial fantasy and sophistication.
