I am a painter who loves to create art that encourages the viewer to explore the unlimited potential of their own imagination. I create abstrsct paintings working mainly in acrylic. I am inspired by the vast universe, the limitless histories of our ancients and yet to be told tales from the futurists. It’s the past, present & future all rolled (or painted) onto one canvas. I use symbology, texture, intricate lines and vibrant modern colours to express this idea. I am influenced by the concept of identity, tribal hieroglyphic art, by universal themes, and by cultural references. The hope is that viewers will be able to explore the final result themselves, using their own imagination.
My work has been exhibited in Australia in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra as well as New York. My work is in private collections globally.
In May 2012, I was very fortunate to have Graeme Stevenson and his Colour in Your Life team come to my studio to film me for an episode of Australia’s television show, “Put Some Colour in Your Life”.
My episode aired on Sunday the 24th of June 2012 on free to air channel 4ME (channel 74.) The TV series is a breath of fresh air for commercial television, whereby Graeme visits an artist each week and observes them creating a piece of art and chatting to them about their arts practice. The show is educational, informative and provides the viewer with an insight into an artist’s journey of creation. I had a fantastic time whilst filming and it was a great experience. Graeme is a wonderful soul who has created a wonderful vehicle for artists to showcase their individual talents.
