Alayne Abrahams

Artist Bio

Trained in drawing and painting since childhood, Alayne completed a Certificate of Fine Arts degree from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Md., and a Bachelor of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of Maryland. She has studied with James Toogood, AWS/NWS, Linda Baker, AWS/NWS and Paul McCormack. She currently studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, Pa, refining her skills in drawing, sculpture and watercolor painting.

Alayne was the recipient of the 2007 ARTV Muse Award in Drawing (www.artvawards.com) and was nominated for the award in Watercolor the same year.

Alayne is currently a Signature member of The National Association of Women Artists and The Baltimore Watercolor Society.  She is a member of the Society for Art of the Imagination, the Philadelphia Watercolor Society and The Philadelphia Sketch Club. In the past, she has been a member of the Washington DC Watercolor Association and the Washington DC Arts Club.

The following terms have often been associated with her work : fantasy, fairy/faery, spiritual, ethereal, figurative, imaginary realism/magical realism, celestial, magical, meditative, feminine/women,Pre-Raphaelite, angelic/angels, contemporary, watercolor. Her work is for sale either as original watercolors,(half to full sheet size) limited edition giclees (canvas prints replicating oil paintings) and she has completed individual commissioned pieces. She has participated in numerous national and international exhibitions/competitions and has displayed her work in commercial establishments in Virginia, Washington D.C., Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York City,Nevada and New Mexico. Her work has been shown in Chalk Farm Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Creative Partners Gallery in Bethesda, Maryland, the Las Vegas Design Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, The Philadelphia Sketch Club, amongst others. She has been published in Imaginaire VII, V, Publishers Choice Award in Art and Beyond Studio Publications Magazine, Who is God Series (Books I-IV), Who’s Who in Visual Art (2012-13), Creative Genius (2010), Art in Vogue (2010), etc.

Ms. Abrahams’ artwork is currently part of the permanent collection of the Southern Nevada Museum of Fine Arts.
