I draw inspiration from living in London and also from extensive travel to many cities around the world. I am intrigued by the way that cities create their own special light, movement and colour and strive to recreate that through my painting. I use a number of different techniques including the application of numerous layers of individual colours which are then reducted and where appropriate moved around to produce the eventual completed image. I use mainly acrylic paint in order to work quickly and effectively to convey the ideas that are formed in my mind during the course of applying the varied layers and shapes. I usually make my own canvasses and enjoy the process of working through a complete idea at all stages. My main influences are probably painters like Richter and Rothko but I value the work of a wide variety of artists including those of more figurative persuasion. I also work with ceramics and other sculptural materials.
