Joel Heger

Joel Heger was born and raised in Southern California. His first art exposure was at age 7 painting with a local fine art painter, Effrin Eldana. He painted for several years with him then changed his focus to sports, becoming an avid football and basketball player.

Joel attended USC for both undergraduate and graduate school. He worked in healthcare for the next forty-five years.

The rebirth of his art career occurred in the 1990’s while painting with a small group of friends. Subsequently he studied with a number of master artists including John Cosby, Rou Li, Kevin Macpherson, Vic Riesau, Junn Roca and Mian Situ.

Joel is presently a full-time artist. He is an associate member of the California Art Club and the Oil Painters of America. He is a member of the American Expressionist Society, the Laguna Plein Air Society, the San Gabriel Valley Fineart Association and the Glendale Art Association. Joel is a member of the Board of Directors of Art Ambassador for a Colorful World; he recently returned from Guatemala where he was teaching children in one of the country’s poorest regions.

Presently Joel lives with wife Jen in South Pasadena, California. He is extremely passionate about his art career and he works tirelessly learning and improving his craft.
