The topics of my works vary and both nature and literature inspire me.

I do lots of insect pictures, mostly by cutting the paper with a knife, to create gracious curves and sharp lines with shimmering edges. I use this technique for other animals as well, especially such that show distinct contrasts in their colouring. Papers in black and white  make excellent contrast, but more colourful works are possible as well. Letting light shine through the the cut paper allows a dramatic play of light and shadow that makes a sculpture out of a two dimensional work.

Mythology and literature also play an important role. So for example Ovid’s “Metamorphoseon libri” with their many transformations from human being to animal are a great source of inspiration for my illustrations, as well as traditional tales and other fantastic literature.
