I am a mainly self taught artist with a lifelong interest both in old and contemporary art as well as creating it myself. I have always loved looking at a painting that interests me and trying to work out how it was done. I grew up in a house full of watercolours and enjoyed drawing from an early age, to begin with it was nearly always ponies.
A love of the natural world, coast and animals has always run alongside my interest in art and naturally influences my choice of subject, but I do occasionally branch out !
I began painting more seriously running up to the Millennium and started exhibiting in 2001, since when I have taken part in many exhibitions, art trails and open studio events as well as having work in local galleries and being accepted for selection only exhibitiions. I love to paint out of doors (plein air) when the weather will allow.
I was born on the edge of a seaside town in East Sussex but have lived most of my life in rural Somerset.
For some years now I have mainly worked in pastel and cornish seascapes, landscapes, ancient sites, cliffs and flowers have figured largely in my work as well as my well loved ponies, cats and highland cows. Since pastel needs to be kept under glass I am hoping to soon offer my work as canvas prints which will be easier to ship as well as being affordable.
