Deborah Dutton

Artist Bio

As a textile artist I am Inspired by the outdoors and the natural environment. I am interested in how plants regenerate, with new growth amongst the old, I like to construct textiles in a similar way , reusing older fabric along side the new. Working with weave, dye, stitch and screen print, I use bright colours, knit and velvets celebrating my drawing of plants.

I love the idea that my bespoke deckchair slings and seat coverings are created to be looked at, sat upon and have visual and tactile impact in the house or garden.I take commissions: for example double deckchahirs , made to seat two are an ideal wedding present.
Each chair sling, seat covering ,footstool or textile object is individually constructed, no two are alike. They reflect the pinks and greens ,with yellow of summer and the range of blues inspired by sea scapes.
I also work regularly as a family arts facilitator working with children, young people and their families within a range of settings.
