I am a painter and textile artist living and working in Cornwall. I am an abstract artist and specialise in colourful art based on the cultures and landscapes I have experienced during my life.
I was born and brought up in a remote area in the mountains of Kurdistan, on the border between Iraq, Turkey and Syria. Here people respond to the barren landscape by dressing up in elaborate hand-made and naturally died material like silk and velvet, which captured my imagination from an early age.
I lived and studied abroad and worked for years as a scientist in many different countries, which exposed me to Western art influences. A career change led me to Cornwall, where she studied and graduated from Falmouth College of Art and settled on a farm in the far west of Cornwall.
In my paintings I use mixed media and like to try different materials and methods to achieve a purity of colour and texture in my work. My textiles are an extension of my paintings, using natural fibres especially hand-dyed silk to achieve brilliant pure colours.
My work has been sold to many corporate clients and private collectors in the UK and across Europe, including internationally acclaimed design hotels.
