I am a Cheshire based artist inspired by nature in all its guises.
My work is all about colour, pattern and texture and how I can best describe my subject with minimal brush strokes and interesting marks to describe my subject.
I take black and white photos of my work through the process to ensure that tonal values are correct, though the colours may be surprising for the subject matter.
Horses play an important role in allowing me to improve my ability to capture a living animal in motion and as my studio is based on an equestrian facility, it seems a natural subject to focus on. I strive to capture the moment in time and the energy and light that it exudes.
That said there is no substitute for painting from life and I love to get out to paint Plein air and attend life drawing classes to improve my drawing and observation skills.
